My main reason for wanting to do part of my degree in Melbourne in the first place, was not because it would look "good" on my resumé. It was the wanderlust and independent girl in me who wanted to get away from the usual. I needed a break from my old routines and a peace of mind.
Furthermore, my subconsciousness is constantly reminding me that I only have five months here, and thus the feeling of homesickness is also being surpassed. With that being said though, I do miss my friends and family back home, but not to the point of feeling sentimental about it.
My best advice to people who are moving abroad for any purpose at all is to enjoy your time for however long you're staying (especially if it's only for a short period of time), connect with your new and somewhat unfamiliar surroundings, make new friends, hang out with existing ones, and just embrace your journey.
